Myanmar-Trip in June 2019 (Hsipaw)

Hsipaw, when you first arrived, didn't give you any special impression of the place, not like when you arrived at Kandawgyi Hill. It gives an impression that the town is a bit quiet and "boring". After we arrived to Hsipaw station, then the hotel has arranged a pickup for us, and we were sent to the town hotel instead of resort. Our booking was for Mr. Charles Riverview resort and we were later picked-up by the lady boss and sent over. Since this was offpeak season, the lodge which is about 15 minutes away from the town, and located in a village, was rather quiet and gave a kind of "nothing to do here" feeling. It could be that I did not read well during the booking, however it was a blessing in disguise too, as the environment allowed us to rest well. The good was well prepared by the staff, especially our breakfast and we slept so well because was very tired of the train journey.

The breakfast provided was superb and excellent, this is so memorable

The tasty fruits

On the second day, we requested to change the hotel to Charles Hotel in the town, which to us is more convenient. And we only walked throughout the city, to various places of attractions. And first, we started with the market, you can find all the daily food sold in the market are quite fresh and relative cheap but it is rather a small market.

Then we start walking around to different places within a few Km of walking distance from the hotel. First we visited the Hsipaw pagoda, and then nearby you have the little Bagan.  A short distance away, then you have the Bamboo Temple, Teak Wood Temple.

Mr. Food is a famous restaurant in Hsipaw town and only a short walking distance from Charles hotel. The owner are of Chinese Ancestry and they are able to speak some basic Mandarin. Food are quite delicious and I would termed them as the localised Chinese good, just like Malaysian Chinese Food, Japan CHinese food, Italian Chinese Food, they have their own taste and flavour. But nevertheless it tasted good and the restaurant are the only one offering draft beer, which is rather good and cheap too.

Shan Palace is considered a private property and usually opens from 3-5Pm only and it is not open daily, depending on the owner. We were lucky, when we visited, they had a group of guests, and after they left, we were allowed to be in. And the Prince's niece in law were there to receive us, and also explaining to us a bit about Shan Palace and brief us the history relates to their family. It was a worthwhile and meaningful visit and here we also met a Korean visitor.

mrs. Popcorn garden is a kind of organic farm restaurant where they offer some local food, and also western food, just like a kind of kampung restaurant.
Local food, fried crackers but I forgot the name for now. Taste delicious.
