Trip To Nepal Dec 2016

Went to Kathmandu with a friend, last year, 1st December, and I just noticed I didn't manage to write any notes or made any record here, on my personal blog-site.
I flew with Air Asia, direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kathmandu, everything was quite smooth. Upon reaching Kathmandu airport, it was quite a small airport, like Penang airport many years ago, before renovation. And most passengers, local Nepalese who flew back brought a lot of electrical appliances back to the country and most of them can speak Bahasa Malaysia. It was a bit of time before my friend got this luggage while I was out in the arrival hall looking for taxi. We took taxi to our hotel, and the along the way, I observed that the road condition in Kathmandu was not very good, not in tip-top condition, and very narrow. And most of the time, traffic was bad, very congested. One point to take note, air pollution in Kathmandu city during this period of time is quite bad.

Went to a few places in the city, like:
i) Swoyambunath (Monkey) Temple, a lot of monkeys here and we met a group of visitors from Taiwan, and they flew here specially to offer prayers, bringing together statue of their deities.
ii) Kathmandu Durbar Square, also a must visit place
iii) Bouddhanath Stupa- should visit this place, a must.
iv) Pashupatinath temple- Honestly I do not like this place, a place for creamation, which is done openly. I have pictures taken here but do not want to share it.

Once done with Kathmandu, we decided to rent a car with a driver, and move to Pokhara lake city, and this tour package covers.
  • Devi’s fall- Average attraction in my opinion
  • Gupteswor cave- Can consider for a visit here.
  • Tibetan refuse camp- Went to this place, nothing much, they have a few shops selling Tibetan made handicrafts, mostly carpets.
  • International Mountain Museum- Good to have a visit here
  • Phewa lake
My personal favorite is still Sarangkot sunset view and the Phewa lake cruise.
Then we drove back after spending two nite here, and walking along the street beside the lake and also having meals in local restaurant was very niece experience indeed.
In the evening, I remembered we went a shop owned by an Indian guy and I bought a piece of cloth, which I later made into a shirt, it comes with flower motif and seems to be like our local batik. Very beautiful indeed.

Overall, Nepal is worth a visit and would like to go back for more visit. Pokhara road conditions are much better than in Kathamandu, that came as a surprise to me actually.
Another observation made is that, during weekends, and if it is sunny day, most people will be out sitting in their garden (ladies will wash their hair) and came out for sunbathing and sun-drying their hair.

Almost forgot along the way from Pokhara back to Kathmandu, we stopped by in a town and I bought the local orange grown there. It was one of the best oranges I have taken, really like it.

Durbar Square
Sarangkot sunrise, and on the way to hillside for board our SUV.
Beautiful weather in Beautiful Pokhara's Phewa lake. Met a guy who had been to Malaysia before as he guides us along the lake. A nite before weather was bad, and today, it was shiny and clear sky. The guy said we are blessed and lucky.

Devi's fall, Pokhara

Entrance to Gupteshwor mahadev cave

According to the local people, one of the best food here in Kathmandu and restaurant is crowded.

The journey back from Pokhara to Kathmandu, and the road was super congested, jam, and air was really bad.

The famous Stupa, Boudhanath

Sunrise at Sarangkot, again, lucky day for us.

Annapurna mountain, can be seen clearly from Sarangkot. Very lucky indeed for us.
